Just make a hole in the cardboard with a pencil, just about the width of the pencil.<\/p>\n<p>Sellotape the mirror onto the card over the hole.<br \/>\nNow carefully point the cardboard with the mirror towards the sun aiming the reflected image onto a wall a few metres away and there you have it! An image of the Sun`s disk.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WARNING! NEVER LOOK DIRECTLY AT THE SUN<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It is possible to see <a href=\"http:\/\/www.universetoday.com\/42259\/what-is-a-sunspot\/\" target=\"_blank\">sunspots<\/a> on the image if you project it into a dark box a few metres away.<\/p>\n<p>The diagram below shows how to set up your pin hole arrangement.<br \/>\nThe mirror is placed over the hole and by moving the cardboard the image of the Sun can be moved onto a wall a few metres away.<br \/>\nClick the diagram below to see it larger.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/helpmyphysics.co.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Howtoimagesun1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/helpmyphysics.co.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Howtoimagesun1-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"How to image the Sun\" title=\"How to image Sun\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1189\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I projected the image of the Sun onto my shed wall.<br \/>\nThe mirror has the effect of increasing the distance from the pinhole ( actually the hole in the cardboard ) to the wall thus making the image larger.<\/p>\n<p>Try this solar project out and see if you can capture the image of the Sun.<\/p>\n<p>But I do have to emphasize: <strong>DO NOT LOOK AT THE SUN<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After the stormy weather of the Christmas period it was great to see the Sun shining brightly yesterday.
