Hi Physics lovers, check out this video which shows how your weight changes when an elevator moves up and down.


Some Questions…..

  1. What was the reading on the Newton scale when the elevator was at rest?
  2. What happened to the weight reading when the lift accelerated downwards?
  3. What happened to the weight reading when the lift accelerated upwards?
  4. What happened to the weight reading when the lift was coming to a stop on the way up?
  5. What happened to the weight reading when the lift was coming to a stop on the way down?
  6. Can you work out the initial upwards acceleration of the lift?
